Community Background
Our Rise, Fall, and Rebirth
Envisioned as a holiday village, Sunset Crest had its beginnings in 1966 as a middle class response to Sandy Lane which would offer modest homes to visitors and Barbadians in a resort atmosphere where all needs were catered for.
Villas and condo units were purchased by individuals as vacation homes, or as investments based on the rental scheme offered by Sunset Crest Rentals Ltd., and Sunset Crest enjoyed a period of prosperity.
The collapse of tourism and in particular the Canadian tourist market in the early 1980’s sparked a downward spiral in rentals and funding for collective services ushering in a period of struggle and hardship.
We are an exceptional community located on the Platinum West Coast of Barbados. Here you will discover a multi-cultural environment where our quality of life is second to none.
Sunset Crest boasts charming villas and condominiums, walkable parks, sandy beaches, eclectic restaurants, shopping, convenient transit, and a medical clinic.
We are cared for by Sunset Crest Property Owners Inc (SCPO) which is a not for profit organization.

We have a continued vision of the future of Sunset Crest as a great place to live with a sound economic base.
Our community recognizes its responsibility towards the environment.
We own and maintain the beautiful green strip to the south of Holetown which gives the coast road that wonderful open feeling.
We also own and maintain the numerous green parkland areas which are dotted around the Sunset Crest.
In our effort to “go green” and do our part in conserving and preserving resources we also are commencing a new recycling effort which we hope our residents will embrace.
